Novecentopiùcento

The competition of the “Museo del Novecento” expansion was related to the second building wing called “Secondo Arengario”, with the aim of “creating a single large exhibition complex dedicated to modern and contemporary arts”.

The request for the tender (later modified a few weeks before the delivery of the first phase) was to design a bridge structure that would connected the two “Arengari”; an option that our design group, assembled and coordinated by arch. Lorenzo Degli Esposti and with authoritative supporters from all over Italy, immediately responded with a conscious opposition.

The main goal was to do not interrupt the existing perspective between the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and the Martini Tower designed by arch. Mattioni. The design present a complex and articulated underground connection and vertical connection between the two buildings, the Milanese underground and the squares above (Piazza Duomo and Piazza Diaz), keeping open and public space “broletto” at the building foot.
