The plot proposed for the competition is located between Street Ilica 83 and 87 where is now in the Academy of Fine Arts parking space is a void of special value; on the one hand, this gap opens up the park as one of the most important arteries of the city (Ilica), on the other hand provides a potential opportunity to complete the historic facades of the same artery .
The basic question that arises from a planning perspective is precisely the relationship of the object with respect to the potential opportunities afforded by the empty space, the continuity of the park or continuity urban fronts. In today’s cities and urban cores consolidated, green areas are urban areas that are worthy by today’s paradigms not only sociological and social values as a public space, but also extremely important ecological potential within the urban fabric. The proposed project gallery of Fine Arts primarily seeks to preserve the “opening ” of the park to the city and with it, the chosen form does not compromise a given historical context. The typology proposed can be defined as a kind of Vertical Exhibition Pavilion, which is obtained by stacking the optimal maxi area of exhibition units in the form of boxes, one above the other. Character pavilion is further underlined landscape design greenery on existing lateral walls that will remain intact. Vertical greenery seeks to preserve the relationship with the front of the park down the street and at the same time interacting with the new facility creates a special value in the interior. New gallery will give a new definition to the existing block to keep existing fracture at the same time , its shape defined by a new public entrance. The volume of the building with its composition floors that are ” beyond our grasp” seeking to establish that a harmonious relationship with the existing context, opens to the park and exploiting slip floors for filtering light intended for the official space. The project fully meets the program requirements with regard to dimensions. It has a slightly higher gross area of the default (2350 m2) but it is not used for excavation – Increasing multifunctional space that is primarily intended for the combination of exhibition space and workshop, the space to interact with the audience.
